Privacy Policy - MEL Hub

Melcole LLC ("MEL Hub," "we," "us," or "our") operates the MEL Hub mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

MEL Hub is designed with privacy at its core. The majority of your data stays on your device. Here is what we collect:

Information stored locally on your device only:

Your name and onboarding preferences (voice type, focus area, overwhelm response, planning style, ADHD status)
Tasks, journal entries, and meal plans you create
App settings and personalization choices

Information transmitted to our servers:

Anonymous authentication tokens (via Firebase Authentication) for backup and restore functionality
Encrypted backup data when you choose to back up your profile (via Firebase Firestore)
Your access/invite code (to verify authorized access)

Information we do NOT collect:

Location data
Contact lists
Photos, camera, or microphone access
Browsing history
Advertising identifiers
Health data beyond your self-reported ADHD status preference

How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect solely to:

Provide and personalize the App experience
Enable backup and restore functionality so you don't lose your data
Verify authorized access via invite codes
Process subscription payments through Google Play (handled entirely by Google)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build user profiles for sale.

Data Storage & Security

Your personal data (tasks, journal entries, meal plans, and preferences) is stored locally on your device using encrypted DataStore and Room Database. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up.

When you use the Backup feature, your data is encrypted and stored in Google Firebase Firestore. Firebase complies with industry-standard security practices and SOC 2 compliance. Your backup is associated with a unique recovery code — not your name or email.

Third-Party Services

MEL Hub uses the following third-party services:

Google Firebase Authentication — for anonymous user authentication (no email or password required)
Google Firebase Firestore — for optional encrypted cloud backup storage
Google Play Billing — for processing MEL Premium subscription payments

Children's Privacy

MEL Hub is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete such information.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data — all your data is visible within the App at any time
Delete your data — uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. To delete cloud backups, contact us
Modify your data — you can edit or delete any task, journal entry, or meal at any time within the App
Opt out of backups — cloud backup is optional and initiated only by you

Data Retention

Local data persists on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Cloud backup data is retained until you request deletion or your account is inactive for 12 months, at which point backup data may be automatically removed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
